The Providence Referees Said There Were Definite Signs of Trauma.

As reported by WPRI 12:

One of two women arrested after a body was pulled out of a river in Providence briefly appeared in court Monday.

Dusti Turner, 35, was arraigned on charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy in the death of 30-year-old Katherine Gascoigne.

No plea was entered and Turner was ordered held without bail. The judge didn’t schedule a bail hearing because Turner “already has a matter pending in the Superior Court.”

At the time of her arrest, Turner was already at the ACI on unrelated charges. She’s been there since Feb. 7, according to the R.I. Department of Corrections.

Gascoigne’s body was recovered from the Woonasquatucket River last Thursday. Providence police said there were signs of trauma, but the specific cause of death is still under investigation.

A possible motive for the alleged killing also remains unclear.

An incident report obtained by 12 News says Smithfield police were called to a Terrace Drive home last Wednesday night to speak with Providence detectives about a missing persons case.

The detectives said they were looking for Gascoigne and had “canvassed the river,” but came up empty.
